Wednesday Matt left for Des Moines for the state tournament. His team took 4 guys up.
Wednesday night Brock and I had dinner at El Portal in town with Ashley and her kids since Dain was also in Des Moines with Matt.
Thursday night our friend Mindy invited Ashley and I + kids over since her husband was also gone that night. We enjoyed breakfast for dinner! Since they are both pregnant, I did the drinking for us ;) There were 6 kids and they all played really well together. Thanks for hosting us Mindy!
I took Friday off so Brock and I could head to Des Moines to join Matt. I was so happy to have the day off, but not excited about what I saw as I let the dogs outside in the morning! There was about an inch of new snow and it was still falling. Brock and I got on the road by 10 and took our time to get up there. We were in no hurry and drove very careful- (expecially since I had SIX calls before we left telling us to drive careful!!)
Before we left town we dropped Josie off at her trainer's house. She will not start her training until April, but they agreed to keep her for the weekend.
Here is what it looked like on our way up!
Brock and I stopped at Jordan Creek mall for lunch and then headed to the hotel to swim. We had nothing else to do on Friday but hang out- good thing since the snow kept falling! Matt was at a hotel downtown so we didn't even bother to make it across town to see him until Saturday.
Brock picked out a new swim set of flippers, mask, and a snorkel with his spending money from granny. He would get dressed in the room and walk down the hall, ride the elevator, and to the pool the whole way dressed like this!
Saturday when we finally got to Matt's hotel we went swimming again.
Our friend Susie came down to the hotel and met us before finals Sat. night. Brock remembered that we played pool last year and wanted to do this again. Susie and I took him downstairs and he got a little play time in before it was time to the skywalk.
Our finals tickets come from Grandpa Rollin and we have a nice time each year seeing several members of the Dyer family during finals. This year we got to sit with Grandpa Rollin, Grandma Karen, Grandpa Bob, Uncle Jim, Aunt Sondra, and cousins Kari and fiance Nate, and Jamie.
A full house!
The Grand March~ (Remember to mute any music at bottom of blog if needed)
The weather reports were not good for SW Iowa and Central Iowa for Sat. night and Sunday. Some were saying 6+ inches of snow.
SO, we made the responsible choice and left about 11:30 Sat night to head home instead of our usual ordering room service, sleeping in at a luxery hotel, and heading back on Sunday.
